The exhibition "The Word about Igor's Regiment" opens for its visitors the poetic and mysterious world of a work that has entered the treasury of world literature. The Word was written at the end of the 12th century by an anonymous author and still attracts the attention of the public like no other creation of Russian literature.

The exhibition is located in the 16th—century interiors of the refectory and the abbot's chambers. According to the testimony of the discoverer of "The Word..." A. I. Musin-Pushkin, it was here, in the Transfiguration Monastery, that an ancient collection with a poem was acquired at the end of the XVIII century.

Icons and handwritten books immerse you in the spiritual world of medieval Russia. Archaeological objects are juxtaposed with impressive reconstructions of ancient weapons.

Memorial objects: antique furniture, books, works of art — create an idea of the Ilovna estate, where the beginning of A. I. Musin-Pushkin's collecting activity was laid. Among the few extant items from his unique collection, the Gospel of the early 17th century is of particular value.

Documentary evidence lifts the veil of mystery over the mysterious story of the discovery and death of the manuscript of the Word. The first edition of The Word, published in 1800 in Moscow and preserving the text of the ancient poem for posterity, became a bibliographic rarity.

The exhibition "The Word about Igor's Regiment" was created with the participation and support of academician D. S. Likhachev in 1985. Today it remains the only museum in Russia dedicated to this unique literary monument.
