A tour of the Poshekhonsky Folk Museum will introduce you to the only gold mining exposition in Russia and other unique exhibits.

Everyone knows that Poshekhonye is the birthplace of Poshekhon cheese, but few people know that it is also the birthplace of a unique gold leaf craft. In the exposition of the "Poshekhonsky National Museum of Local Lore" you will find out "where the gold industry in the Poshekhonsky region came from.

A tour of the museum, which contains more than 5 thousand exhibits on the history of the region, urban life of the 19th century, crafts and crafts. A separate hall is dedicated to Poshekhon in the 20th century, including the history of Poshekhon cheese. Children are especially attracted to the hall "Nature, fauna and flora of the Poshekhonsky region". Some exhibits exist in a single copy and can only be seen in the Poshekhonsky Museum.

The museum was established in 1974 with the aim of preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the region, respecting the history of its small homeland, its people.

The museum occupies three floors in a former bank building. There is an entrance equipped with a ramp.
