On May 24, guests are expected in the village of Okhotino, at the dacha of artist Konstantin Korovin, and on May 25, a festive program "Sixth Sunday" with a procession will be held in Pereslavl-Zalessky.
"A rich event program is an opportunity to provide residents with vibrant and diverse leisure activities and attract guests to the region," said Mikhail Evraev, Governor of the Yaroslavl Region. – For example, this Saturday, art lovers are expected in Pereslavl-Zalessky district for the holiday "And we hunt in Okhotino!", where the dacha of the first Russian impressionist Konstantin Korovin is located. The festive program "Sixth Sunday" will be held in Pereslavl-Zalessky on May 25. It is dedicated to the historical events of the region and attracts thousands of guests. Participants will go through a walking and water procession, see performances by creative teams and reenactors.
The musical atmosphere of the early twentieth century will be recreated in the village of Okhotino. Performances by Yaroslavl musicians Sergey Kuznetsov and Marina Nikiforova, the vocal trio "Free Wind", the Serpentine ensemble of Russian folk instruments, and the folk group "Rodnaya Pesnya" from Pereslavl-Zalessky are scheduled. The celebration will also include the solemn completion of the first stage of the project "Konstantin Korovin's Okhotinsky Paradise. Allegories of a Country Garden", which is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund. Guests will learn how the local garden is reflected in literary and artistic works.
The festive program "Sixth Sunday" is dedicated to two historical events that took place in Pereslavl-Zalessky on the sixth Sunday after Easter. According to legend, on this day in 1382, during the invasion of the city by the Tatar-Mongols under the leadership of Khan Tokhtamysh, the miraculous rescue of Dmitry Donskoy's wife Evdokia (later Saint Euphrosyne) with her children and numerous townspeople took place. They rowed away to the middle of the lake, which was covered by an impenetrable fog. It is also believed that on the sixth Sunday after Easter in 1692, Peter the Great's funny flotilla was launched.
"The old tradition of the procession and the water prayer service on Lake Pleshcheyevo on the sixth Sunday after Easter was returned to Pereslavl-Zalessky in 2017," said Gohar Vatinyan, Acting Minister of Tourism of the Yaroslavl Region. – Thousands of guests come to the festival, marching in procession both along the shore and on the water: on boats, speedboats, small yachts and even sailboats.
Guests and participants of the festival on the banks of the Trubezh River will be able to see historical sketches and performances by creative teams. The celebration will begin with a concert on the right embankment of the Trubezh River (near the sculpture "Pink Elephant") and will be accompanied by a story about the history of this tradition. Next, there will be a water and walking procession to the Church of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste at the mouth of the river, where another concert and a free meal will take place.
