City Day will be held in Rostov Veliky on June 7.

Rostov Veliky will celebrate its 1163rd anniversary on Saturday. The year of the city's foundation is considered to be the first mention of it in 862 in the "Tale of Bygone Years".

– Last weekend, Yaroslavl's birthday was vividly celebrated. About 50 thousand people became guests of the holiday. And next Saturday, Rostov Veliky will celebrate City Day," said Mikhail Evraev, Governor of the Yaroslavl Region. Rostov the Great is the spiritual center of Russia and one of the oldest cities in our country. Together with the residents, we have done a lot of work to rename it. I invite everyone to spend this weekend in Rostov the Great. Come with your family, friends and loved ones!

Festive events will start on June 5 and 6 in the Konyushenny Dvor and the Rostov Kremlin. Exhibitions will be opened there and musicians will perform.

The main celebrations will be held on June 7.

According to Marina Zhulina, Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Yaroslavl Region, the Rostov Fair will open at 10 a.m. near the Kremlin walls. Everyone will be able to purchase handicrafts and learn something new at the workshops. There will be a food court, interactive activities are provided for children.

At 11 a.m., the family program "Smile, my beloved city" will begin, at noon – the festival of Russian folk art of Yaroslavl "In song – Russia, in dance – the soul!".

The children's concert and entertainment program starts at 3:15 p.m. At 4:30 p.m. there will be a grand opening of the Rostov Veliky – the Spiritual Center of Russia holiday, which will include an award ceremony for volunteers and activists, including those who took an active part in the process of renaming the city.

The theatrical historical action "Yaroslav's Court" will begin in the courtyard of the Rostov Kremlin at 14.30.

Interactive programs are planned in the City Garden, which will start at 10 o'clock and will be interesting for both children and teenagers. Pupils of the V.N. Gorodovskaya School of Art, the Inspiration choreographic group and other creative associations will perform.

For lovers of antiquity, the Rostov Fortress Historical Reconstruction Festival will begin in Komsomolsk Park at 11 a.m. The audience will be able to see the demonstration battles of infantry and cavalry, learn about the harsh life of the Vikings, get acquainted with the process of minting coins, learn the basics of fencing and play ancient games.

On Cathedral Square, folk and variety performances will be demonstrated by creative teams from Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Uglich, and the village of Borisoglebsky. The festive evening will end with a performance by a Moscow cover band.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
