In the year of the 275th anniversary of the Russian State Academic Drama Theater named after F.G. Volkov, the first multi–genre theater marathon "Yaroslavl - the theater capital of Russia" will be held in Yaroslavl. According to Mikhail Evraev, Governor of the Yaroslavl Region, the program will be held from June 23 to June 30 at various venues in the city.
– The theater week will bring together star performers and give the audience vivid impressions, – said Mikhail Evraev. – The leading teams of the country will be special guests of the marathon. The orchestra of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theaters under the direction of People's Artist of Russia Valery Gergiev will perform for the audience. The world premiere of "Fyodor Volkov. Ascension" will be presented by Maestro Yuri Bashmet and the New Russia Orchestra. Our symphony orchestra conducted by Vasily Valitov will give a big concert on Sovetskaya Square. I invite residents and guests of the region to visit the theater city and celebrate the anniversary of the first Russian together!
During the days of the 275th anniversary of the Volkov Theater, the whole city will become the stage for performances. Creative performances, concerts, theatrical processions, interactive performances, and performances will take place on the central streets, squares, the Volga Embankment, and in Strelka Park. There will be theater buffets at all venues. Streets, squares, parks and squares will be transformed into one large theatrical space at this time.: THE CITY IS A THEATER.
Teams from Lugansk, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kirov, and Yaroslavl region will participate in the marathon. Theater associations, orchestras, jazz ensembles and youth groups will perform.
An exclusive festival of new theatrical formats "Volkov. The stage." The program includes an audio performance in the tram "Doors open", a performance–promenade, a restaurant gastronomic festival "Eat the plot".
All initiatives aimed at promoting events and creating tourism products are implemented in accordance with the goals of the national Tourism and Hospitality project.
