The Tsar's Ambassador Festival will be held on Russia Day in Pereslavl-Zalessky

On Russia Day, the X gastronomic herring festival "Tsar's Ambassador" will be held in Pereslavl-Zalessky.

– The holiday is dedicated to the historical past of the Pereslavl grouse, which is depicted on the official coat of arms of the city, – said Mikhail Evraev, Governor of the Yaroslavl region. – Master classes, interactive entertainment, concerts and activities for children are waiting for guests. The site will be the Fisch Herberg – Herring Royal Ambassador complex. It starts at 12 o'clock, admission is free.

The festival has been held in Pereslavl-Zalessky since 2015.

– There is a rich program for the whole family. Guests will not only be able to taste a variety of herring dishes, but also learn how to cook them under the guidance of experienced chefs," said Ekaterina Stepanova, Minister of Tourism of the Yaroslavl Region.

During the master classes, participants will be shown how to salt, marinate and smoke fish. The cultural program of the festival includes interactive entertainment with sailor sayings, songs and dances.

Grouse, which was caught in Pleshcheyev Lake, was called "royal herring" in the old days. She was included in the coronation dinners and served at the royal table. According to legend, Peter the Great, who created his funny fleet in the Pereslavl region, especially appreciated this fish.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
