The new national tourist route Golden Ring was approved by the Expert Council under the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia. This was announced by the Governor of the Yaroslavl region Mikhail Evraev.
– The new status will provide an additional incentive for the dynamic development of travel in the Central Federal District. The number of services in the field of hospitality will increase, the infrastructure will improve, all this will contribute to the growth of tourist flow, – Mikhail Evraev noted. – The main role in the route is played by the cities of the Yaroslavl region. We have everything to attract guests with different interests.
The route, which is one of the symbols of Russia, passes through nine cities: Moscow, Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov Veliky, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Suzdal and Vladimir.
Rybinsk, Uglich and the village of Vyatskoye may also be included as additional guests in the Golden Ring national tourist route.
– During the trip, tourists will see preserved ancient architectural ensembles, UNESCO World Heritage Sites and much more, – said Ekaterina Stepanova, Minister of Tourism of the Yaroslavl Region. – The proximity to the capital makes the Golden Ring ideal for short trips. Travelers can visit key points in 3 to 7 days.
The Yaroslavl Region is one of the most sought-after destinations among tourists, and the region's event calendar is an integral part of the overall program of the Golden Ring cities. The route's 60th anniversary will be celebrated in 2027.
– In 2026-2027, all major events in the cities of the Golden Ring will be held under the auspices of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the route, - said the Mayor of Yaroslavl, President of the Union of Cities of the Golden Ring Artem Molchanov. – In the near future, it is necessary to coordinate the calendar of events for 2026-2027, paying special attention to ensuring that the dates of key events in different cities do not duplicate each other.
Currently, more than a thousand events of various kinds are held in the cities of the Golden Ring, a single calendar of route events is formed annually, information is collected from city administrations, tourist information centers, and event organizers. Information about the key events of the route is posted on the official resources of the Union of Cities of the Golden Ring, in the media and other sources.
Work on the development of domestic tourism in the Yaroslavl region, the creation of a new number of rooms, tourist infrastructure, and event events is carried out in accordance with the objectives of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality".
