Yaroslavl 1000th Anniversary Park

The name of the park speaks for itself: this section of the Kotorosli coast was landscaped for the anniversary of the city in 2010. The views here are wonderful: two rivers at once – the Volga and Kotorosl, domes of churches, fountains (one gushes directly from the ground, children run over it in hot weather), unusual sculptures. Ice cream and popcorn are usually sold at the entrance. There is a cafe and several souvenir shops in the park itself.

There is something for children and adults to do here. Be sure to get acquainted with the sculptural symbol of the city – a Bear with a fish. This monument, a gift to Yaroslavl from the famous Zurab Tsereteli, initially caused a lot of controversy: the bronze bear seemed too aggressive to the locals. But the arguments have subsided, and today no one leaves the park without rubbing the Bear's nose for good luck. Take a look at the beautiful arch in honor of the 1000th anniversary of Yaroslavl. Walk down the Kotoroslnaya embankment to the new Millennium Cultural Center: here you can go to the cinema, to a concert or just have lunch at the art cafe. In summer, exhibitions of sand figures are held on the embankment.

If you walk away from the coast of Kotorosli and climb up the park, you can admire the ancient temple ensemble of the churches of St. Nicholas the Wet and Tikhvinskaya on Tchaikovsky Street. The Valentina Tereshkova Space Center, a modern planetarium with 4D attractions, movie screenings and cafes, is also located nearby. Children in the park can jump on a trampoline or ride in a rented electric car. Flat tracks are well suited for bicycles, scooters or roller skates. There are two playgrounds with a secure rubberized surface.

There are trees in the park, which were planted by honored guests. For example, the thuja of the world's first female cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova grows here. When planning a walk, it should be borne in mind that the garden is still very young: the trees are low and do not yet protect from intense heat or wind.

The 1000th Anniversary Park is open around the clock and well lit at night, so it is suitable not only for daytime walks, but also for evening meetings: you can come here at sunset and swing romantically under the lapping of river waves.
