One of the largest provincial museums in Russia is located on the territory of the Goritsky Monastery. There are over 90 thousand exhibits in his collection.

Permanent exhibitions: "Silver Pantry" (Russian decorative and applied art of the XVI-XIX centuries. Russian Russian Art (sacristy), "Wooden sculpture and carving of the XVI-XIX centuries", "Ancient Russian art (icons) of the XV-XVIII centuries", "Russian painting of the XVIII-XX centuries", "Art of the Russian village", "Wreath to manors", memorial expositions by F.I. Chaliapin and D.N. Kardovsky, "Pereslavl. One hundred years ago", "The Brink of war", "The amazing world of nature of the Zalessky region"

Excursions: to the museum, branches and the city: "Architectural monuments of the Goritsky monastery", "Ancient Russian painting of the XVI-XIX centuries.", "Silver pantry", "Pereslavl. A hundred years ago", "Pereslavl is the birthplace of Alexander Nevsky, there are only 22 sightseeing routes; there are specialized excursions for different age categories and for people with disabilities.

Holidays: Christmas at the museum (January 7), Madame Maslenitsa (according to the church calendar), Night at the Museum (World Museum Day), the Festival of Historical Clubs "The Russian Fleet be!" (last Sunday in July), the youth festival "Intersection", the Pereslavl Autumn Art Festival.

Visiting rules: entrance to the museum is paid – 30 rubles. Tickets for the exhibitions are purchased at the ticket office at the entrance to the museum. Free amateur photography and video shooting is allowed on the territory of the museum and in the halls (except for the exhibitions "Russian Decorative and Applied Art of the XVI-XIX centuries" (sacristy)) and "Ancient Russian art (icons) of the XV-XVIII centuries.", shooting for commercial purposes – in agreement with the museum administration and a separate agreement.

Branches and departments of the museum-reserve: the Peter I Boat Estate Museum, the Ganshins Estate Museum, the Transfiguration Cathedral, the Cultural and Exhibition Center.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
