Poshekhonsky National Museum of Local Lore

The museum was established in 1974 in order to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the Poshekhonsky region. Unique exhibits are collected.

The Poshekhonsky National Museum of Local Lore is a unique phenomenon of provincial culture. It was established in 1974 on the initiative of the indigenous inhabitants of Poshekhonye. The museum contains about 4,500 exhibits, which are housed in seven halls: the history of the region, urban life, crafts and crafts, flax of Poshekhonye, Poshekhonye during the Great Patriotic War, Poshekhonye in the 20th century, Nature, fauna and flora of the Poshekhonye region. Poshekhonskaya land was famous for the fact that gold leaf was forged here, excellent "Poshekhonsky" cheese was brewed, and rich harvests of flax were grown. An original region with its magnificent nature, unique rich history, sincere, talented artisan people.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
