The village of Hopylevo

The village of Hopylevo near Rybinsk, like many hundreds of rural settlements, was falling into disrepair, and the church where the future saint of the Russian Orthodox Church was baptized was slowly collapsing.

The Church of the Epiphany on the Island was built in 1701. It was the only stone building of the Epiphany Island monastery and became a parish monastery after its abolition during the reign of Catherine II.

The estate of the Ushakov noblemen was located near the village of Hopylevo, in the village of Burnakovo. The future Admiral Fyodor Ushakov was baptized in the Epiphany Cathedral. Nearby is the grave of the holy Admiral's parents, Fyodor and Paraskeva.

The temple is the only preserved historical monument associated with the beginning of the formation of the great naval commander in his small homeland. It is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance.
