Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Kurba village

Kurba is one of the largest and most ancient villages of Yaroslavl land. The village is beautifully located on the high bank of the Kurbitsa river. In the XV-XVI centuries, there was a patrimony of the princes of Kurbsky, descendants of the Yaroslavl appanage princes. The main decoration of the village is the Kazan Church, built in 1770. It is a unique 16-lobed centric structure in terms of its architecture. The church admires the beauty and richness of the frescoes on the subjects of the New and Old Testaments, made by Yaroslavl craftsmen in 1796-1799. However, the frescoes were significantly damaged during the placement of a machine and tractor station in the temple during the Soviet period. Currently, emergency and conservation work has been carried out in the temple, the temple is accessible for inspection only from the outside.

The temple ensemble also includes the Church of the Resurrection of Christ (early 18th century), a five-tiered bell tower (19th century) and a chapel.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
