Lake Nero

Today it is the largest lake in the Yaroslavl region. The lake is fed by 17 rivers and rivulets, the names of which remind of the Meri people who once lived here: Ishnya, Kucebezh, Varus, Mazikha, Chucherka, Unitsa, Sula.... The largest of the rivers flowing into it is the Sarah, which has the name Gda in its lower reaches. There are two large islands on the Lake. One of them, Lviv, is located opposite the village of Levy at the entrance to Rostov. The second island, Rozhdestvensky, is located almost opposite the city center. That is why it is often called Urban. From its shores there are amazing views of ancient Rostov.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
