Rostov Rozhdestvensky Monastery

The Rostov Rozhdestvensky Monastery, according to legend, was founded at the end of the 14th century by the holy Archbishop Theodore of Rostov.

The oldest building of the monastery is the Nativity Church of the monastery at the end of the 17th century. The interior of the church has preserved wall paintings from 1715. The second temple is dedicated to Our Lady of Tikhvin, it was built by the famous architect Konstantin Ton in the 1840s. The monastery's fence and residential cell buildings date back to the end of the XVIII – XIX centuries.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
