The Resurrection Church in the village of Popovka, which now belongs to the village of Shestikhino, was built for seven years, from 1796 to 1804. On June 25, 1804, the solemn consecration of the temple took place. The service was conducted by Hieromonk Arseny from the Yugsky Dorofeev Monastery, who also supervised the construction of the temple. For his efforts, he was awarded the golden pectoral cross personally by Emperor Alexander I.
In 1901, two new carved gilded iconostases were installed in the dining room of the winter chapel, and in 1916 the wall paintings were renovated.
On March 26, 1876, a parish school was opened at the church, in which 110 children studied. At the beginning of the twentieth century, a charity shelter for orphaned peasant girls was established.
In 1922, a special liquidation commission seized church valuables in all churches.
Under Soviet rule, the temple was not closed.
