Nikitsky spring in Pereslavl district

Nearby, about a kilometer from the Nikitsky monastery, there is a spring dug according to legend by St. Nikita Stylites. He discovered this spring around the 12th century. Since then, the healing spring has been continuously giving people its clean water. There is also a small chapel where you can light a candle. The monastery's employees take care of the source and make sure that nothing superfluous gets into the source.

The spring is located in a hollow, reached by a long wooden staircase. It offers a very beautiful view of the ancient hills and plains.

Water has shown its healing properties over the centuries. There is also a swimming pool, where you can, as the locals say, "soak", washing off your ailments and fatigue.

Legend: the origin of the spring is mentioned in the "Life" of St. Nikita, one of the most revered saints of Pereslavl. The text says that two wells were created, but one of them has not been preserved, and the second one is still functioning near the Sluda ravine.

How to get there: in Pereslavl, turn at the sign "Nikitsky Monastery" and continue along the Troitskaya Sloboda — Kukhmar road. After driving 300 m behind the monastery, you need to drive right at the sign "Holy Spring" and continue along the road of sand and gravel.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
