Monument to Nicholas the Wonderworker

A memorial complex dedicated to Nicholas the Wonderworker is installed in the central part of Poshekhonye

A memorial complex dedicated to Nicholas the Wonderworker is installed in the central part of Poshekhonye – on Freedom Square. It includes a bronze figure of the saint and a memorial sign, the Omophorion Ribbon (bronze, granite), marking the site of the chapel in honor of the saint, which was lost in 1937.

The monument was unveiled on January 10, 2023. The authors of the monument are a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, sculptor Elena Vasilyevna Paskhina and the architect of the project Dmitry Ilyich Brandukov.

The place for the monument was chosen in memory of the lost chapel with the saint's name. The initiators of the monument's creation were Alexey Alexandrovich Rumyantsev, head of the Poshekhonye administration, and Priest Evgeny Mozyakov, rector of the Assumption Cathedral.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
