Monument to the Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow

Monument to the Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow, the heavenly patron and defender of the Danilovskaya land.

Monument to Prince Daniel of Moscow, the youngest son of Alexander Nevsky.

According to legend, Prince Daniel of Moscow, while exploring the northern territories, stopped in our area. Then there was the settlement of Pelendovo (the name comes from the Pelenda River). The prince liked the place and he ordered to build a grain farm here, put up princely chambers and build a stud farm, which later supplied horses to the royal army. The city began to grow, merchants came here and opened shops, built houses. Trade developed, and later a postal route was approved.

Therefore, Prince Daniel of Moscow is considered the patron saint of the city and is named after his name, the city of Danilov.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
