Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Danilov

The Church of the Ascension is a temple complex built in an eclectic style with imitation of the architecture of the 17th century.

The main volume of the temple is crowned with a powerful dome, adjacent to it is a refectory and a tent bell tower. In the 30s of the last century, its main large bell was thrown down and smashed. A stone chapel, a small gatehouse and the ruined building of a former almshouse, opened at the expense of the brother of the organizer of the temple, Ivan Komatovsky, have also survived to this day. Inside the temple is richly painted, the venerated icons of the Mother of God Tikhvin and Kazan are kept. And this is no coincidence – the temple has never been closed, having been the main temple of the city for a long time. No less interesting is the cemetery located next to the temple, where representatives of famous merchant dynasties of the city of Danilov are buried. Currently, services are held every Sunday and on public holidays. A special solemn service is held on June 18, the day on which a terrible fire broke out in 1895, after which the city was literally reborn.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
