The Sogozha River

The Sogozha River originates in the Vologda region and passes through the basins of the Volga and the White Sea. In the lower reaches, the river flows into the Rybinsk reservoir, due to which it expands and becomes navigable.

In the vicinity of Poshekhonye, the river banks are covered with mixed forest. Nature's corners are in demand among vacationers. Ecological trails are laid through the forest. Townspeople often settle on the edges of the forest to make a bonfire or set up a barbecue. In some places, the river is suitable for swimming.

Interesting fact: the Sogozha River gave its name to the princes of Sugorsky (Sogozhsky), belonging to the branch of the Belozersk princes.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
