The largest building on the square is the former House of Culture, until the 1960s, the Resurrection Cathedral.
In 1820, the construction of a new stone cathedral began in Danilov. Its construction was completed in 1827 by the diligence of N. D. Potashin. The new stone church was soon rebuilt in 1839, receiving a dedication to the Resurrection of the Living. In this form, the summer temple existed until the middle of the 20th century, until it was rebuilt as a Cultural center.
In 1936-1939, the bell tower of the cathedral was adapted for a parachute tower. In 1961, after reconstruction and an additional extension, a cultural center with a widescreen sound cinema, a lecture hall, and rooms for amateur art groups was opened in the cathedral.
