City Square

The city square is an ideal place for recreation and entertainment for the whole family.

Rybinsk City Square is almost three hectares of carousels, swings, boats, trampolines and other entertainment in the city center. In summer, there are a lot of parents with children in the park who ride the local "turtles", "dragons" and "elephants". Those who are older (children from the age of 14 and adults) like the Ferris Wheel and the exciting Hip-Hop, Biorobot and Aelita.

In hot weather, the "Ball on the Water", boats and catamarans are especially popular in the park: there are already several ponds here. The park itself is located by the Cheremukha River, along the shore of which, if you want to be in silence, you can take a quiet walk. Today, the park is crowded and bustling, and once it was a peaceful place for walks and performances – a theatrical public garden founded back in the 19th century.

The city square has an interesting history. In 1876, a large theater was built in Rybinsk, on the stage of which almost all the famous guest performers of pre-revolutionary Russia performed. A few years later, a city garden with shady alleys, flower beds, and even the first fountain in Rybinsk, built at the same time as the city's water supply, was laid out nearby. In 1921, a fire broke out in the theater, and the building had to be dismantled. Then there was a summer cinema, where guests were greeted by sculptures of Lenin and Stalin, but in the 1960s this entertainment venue disappeared from the park. It is currently undergoing reconstruction, new attractions are appearing, and the square is gradually being transformed.

When you get tired of boating, go for lunch – there is a good cafe just a stone's throw from the city square on Stoyalaya Street.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
