Monument to Alexander Peresvet

The monument to Alexander Peresvet, which is the creation of Zurab Tsereteli, was opened on September 26, 2005.

Alexander Peresvet is a famous monk warrior who went out to fight Chelubey before the start of the Battle of Kulikovo and defeated the enemy.

According to legend, Peresvet took monastic vows in the Borisoglebsky monastery of the famous Sergius of Radonezh.


The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
