Yaroslavl Museum of Military Glory

The Museum of Military Glory traces its history back to 1981.

The museum houses the exhibition "Our Victory. We must not forget: Yaroslavl and the people of Yaroslavl during the Second World War." This is the largest exhibition in terms of coverage of topics and the volume of exhibits presented in the entire 40-year history of the museum.

To date, the museum has more than 500 exhibits in its collections. On a special account, among them are the personal belongings of famous fellow veterans. Among the rare exhibits is an anti–aircraft gun from an armored boat manufactured at the Yaroslavl Shipyard. Such anti-aircraft guns guarded the Yaroslavl sky during the war years. The museum's collection also includes a symbol of the Russian soldier – a Shpagin submachine gun, the famous PPSH. A significant part of the collection is the park of military equipment of the Soviet period. Among the exhibits are a fragment of a torpedo tube from the Yaroslavsky Komsomolets submarine of the Great Patriotic War, several anti–aircraft missile systems, a T-54 tank, an unmanned aircraft, and an armored personnel carrier.

The Museum of Military Glory, the Alley of generals, the park of military equipment, as well as the Military Memorial Cemetery with monuments and commemorative steles located opposite the museum complex are a single space of memory, the importance of which for Yaroslavl residents is difficult to overestimate.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
