The Church of Nikola Nadein is the first church in Yaroslavl, which began the era of the famous Yaroslavl churches of the Golden XVII century. This church served as a model for subsequent buildings, borrowing architectural solutions from the Spassky Cathedral of the monastery of the same name.
The construction of the temple took place at the expense and initiative of one of the wealthiest people not only in Yaroslavl, but throughout Russia – Epiphany Andreevich Sveteshnikov, known by the nickname Nadiya. His mundane name formed the basis of the familiar name of the temple. The Nadezhdinsky Temple was perceived as a symbol of the memory of the Time of Troubles and the significant role of Yaroslavl in the fight against the Polish-Lithuanian invaders.
Today, the church of St. Nicholas Nadein is recognized as an architectural monument and plays an important historical and cultural role.
