The Rybinsk Puppet Theater is a real palace where dolls from favorite Russian folk tales, works of classics and modern writers for children live. It began its history back in 1933 and is known as one of the first puppet theaters in Russia. The founder is Zinaida Nikolaevna Demidova. The theater is one of the ten oldest puppet theaters in Russia, and already in 1937 it became one of the best puppet theaters in the country.
One of the differences between the puppet theater and many other children's cultural institutions is the size of the auditorium and stage. When the performance begins, the spacious and roomy, at first glance, hall with 174 seats surprisingly turns into a cozy, intimate, almost homely. Probably no one will give an exact answer to the question of why this is happening. Nevertheless, there are 2 fundamental solutions that help create this unique and unique atmosphere every time.
In recent years, the theater's repertoire has been almost completely updated. The playbill features such popular performances as "The ABC of Politeness", "The Return of Carlson", "Thumbelina", "An Extraordinary Contest", "Shish, or How a peasant quarreled with the Tsar", etc.
The Puppet Theater is a participant and laureate of international and regional festivals of theatrical art. The troupe is actively touring. So, in 2016-2018, the actors' skills were appreciated in Sarov, Belgorod, Yoshkar-Ola, Syktyvkar, Vorkuta, Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Kstovo.
