Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve

The main museum collections are represented in the architectural ensemble of the XVI–XIX centuries of the former Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery, which in 2005 was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the historical development of Yaroslavl. The museum's territory contains the oldest preserved buildings of the entire city with a thousand-year history.

During the summer, museum guests can visit the city's only observation deck in the historical part, at an altitude of 32 meters on the upper tier of the belfry.

The Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve has a collection of over 350,000 items that reflect the historical, cultural and natural heritage of the Yaroslavl land and the history of Russia.

The museum boasts a collection of handwritten and printed books from the 12th and 20th centuries, which has no analogues in the Russian province in terms of its scientific and cultural significance. A special place is occupied by 15 handwritten books on parchment. The museum's collection includes the treasures of the sacristy of Yaroslavl monasteries and temples, the contributions of the tsars, the products of the best jewelry masters of the Middle Ages, works of precious facial and ornamental sewing and the results of archaeological research in the region.

The main expositions are located on the territory of the museum: natural science, historical, the treasury of Yaroslavl, as well as the unique exposition "The Word about Igor's regiment - an outstanding monument of ancient Russian culture."

Today, the museum holds music festivals, exhibitions, excursions and other events.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
