Modern drama and classics; performances for children, youth and adults; bright cheerful comedies and serious works that offer to think about difficult issues; author's music, own arrangements and musical intermissions. All this is the Yaroslavl Theater of the Young Spectator.
The theater opened its first season on February 22, 1984 with the premiere of the play "Forever Alive" based on the play by Viktor Rozov. Today, the theater bears the name of this famous playwright, who played an important role in creating a theater for children and youth in his hometown of Yaroslavl.
The theater's repertoire includes classical dramatic performances, modern plays, musical and poetic productions based on the best works of world literature. The poster features Pushkin and Lermontov, Andersen and Perrault, Ostrovsky and Goncharov, Volodin and Schwartz, Lindgren and Chapek.
The performances involve both yesterday's graduates of theater universities and experienced established actors. Many of the theater's artists are gifted with wonderful voices and a keen understanding of music, and live performances and vivid solo performances have long been a hallmark of the performances staged at the Yaroslavl Youth Theater.
In July 2014, the Yaroslavl Theater of the Young Spectator was named after Viktor Rozov on the eve of its 30th anniversary. And since 2018, the All-Russian Theater Festival "ROZOVFEST" has become the hallmark of the theater. Every year, ROZOVFEST attracts talented directors and actors who are ready to present the works of Viktor Rozov, as well as his contemporaries and followers, to the audience. Thanks to the festival, residents of the city get the opportunity to see the best productions of Russian theaters.
The best performances of the theater can be viewed online, tours are regularly conducted behind the scenes, and the theater's social networks are always ready for dialogue with the audience.
