On August 1, 1803, the first provincial museum of Russia opened its doors. On its pediment is carved in gold: "To the Great Peter, diligent Pereslavl." In 1842, a stone gatehouse was erected – a guardhouse for retired sailors who guarded the museum. A rotunda has also been built, a building for public receptions and dances. In addition, a triumphal arch appeared on the territory. With the construction of the White Palace in 1853, the Peter I Boat Estate acquired its final architectural appearance. In 1919, it became a branch of the Pereslavl Museum.
There are permanent exhibitions:
Peter the Great's Boat is located on Mount Gremyach near Lake Pleshcheyev, in the ancient village of Veskovo. It is one of the oldest provincial museums in Russia, founded in 1803. However, its history begins much earlier, from the end of the 17th century, with Peter I's youthful passion for shipbuilding on the shores of Lake Pereslavl.
The main value of this picturesque historical estate is considered to be the surviving boat "Fortuna", which, according to legend, was built by young Peter himself. The original details that have been preserved are also of great interest: the carved ornaments, anchors and cannons of Peter's funny ships, as well as the remains of the business Petrovsky courtyard of that time.
Visitors to this unique museum have a great opportunity to make an unforgettable journey into the past by taking part in the Petrovskaya Assembly of Centuries Gambling excursion and entertainment program.
