Yaroslavl City History Museum

The Yaroslavl City History Museum is located in a merchant's estate of the late 19th century, owned by merchant V. Ya. Kuznetsov. The museum has two branches – the Nuzhin City Exhibition Hall and the Maxim Bogdanovich Memorial House Museum.

Expositions:

  • "Ten centuries of Yaroslavl history". The museum presents the history of the ancient city on the Volga in accordance with the concept of "Yaroslavl in the history of Russia. A man in the history of Yaroslavl";
  • "From the history of Yaroslavl medicine". The exhibition tells about the history of medicine in the city.

Museum programs:

  • "Visiting the merchants of the Kuznetsovs." The hosts will take the guests through the museum halls and introduce them to the history of Yaroslavl. Those who wish will participate in costumed scenes from the life of the merchant city.
  • "Matchmaking in Yaroslavl". The guests of the museum will be offered to act out a matchmaking scene, and after that they will be treated to a freshly baked loaf.
  • "We invite you to the ball." The "Steward" will introduce the guests to the traditions of the ball, and the tourists will feel like the most respectable people of Yaroslavl at the end of the XIX century.
  • "Games and entertainment of the townspeople." The participants will play a "merchant's" forfeit, meet the booths at the fair, who will amuse the audience with an instructive tale. The final of the program is a gambling game in the museum's park in "babki".
  • "Dedication to Yaroslavichi." On this holiday, the legend of the founding of Yaroslavl is staged. Children play the roles of the prince, the bear, the vigilantes and the pagans. In the final, young citizens will receive memorable gifts.
  • "Young people are welcome everywhere." The tourists will learn how to tie a pioneer tie, attend a Komsomol meeting and "build" the city of Komsomolsk.
  • "Birthday at the museum." The birthday boy and the guests will be told about the outstanding residents of Yaroslavl, they will be offered to play congratulations according to ancient traditions.
The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
