Yaroslavl Region was formed on March 11, 1936 as a result of the division of the Ivanovo Industrial Region into Ivanovo and Yaroslavl regions. The administrative center is the city of Yaroslavl, founded in 1010 by Prince Yaroslav the Wise.

Yaroslavl region is famous for the richest historical and cultural heritage of the regions of the Central part of Russia, masterpieces of Russian culture, unique temples and monasteries. The ancient Russian cities of Yaroslavl, Rostov Veliky, Pereslavl-Zalessky and Uglich are the most beautiful pearls in the Golden Ring necklace. In almost every city in the Yaroslavl region, you can find something interesting for yourself. The picturesque Central Russian nature combines with the spirit of Ancient Russia: golden domes of churches, impregnable walls of monasteries, bell chimes, ancient architecture — all this can be seen by visiting the Yaroslavl region.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
