Yaroslavl region is famous for its athletic talents. Masters of their craft are trained here, who actively take prizes at the Olympic Games and world championships.

About 171 medals were brought to the Yaroslavl region in such sports as volleyball, handball, equestrian (triathlon, team championship), athletics (pole vault), cross-country skiing, gymnastics (team championship), shooting (large-caliber rifle, 3 positions 300m), shooting (trench stand), fencing (rapier), freestyle (acrobatics), football, hockey, sports of the deaf (football), bullet shooting, kudo, underwater sports, sambo, sports of the blind (checkers), swimming, taekwondo PODA, sports acrobatics, powerlifting, kickboxing, kettlebell lifting, canine sports, fishing, triathlon.

Of these, 30 medals were awarded for sporting achievements at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
