"We're going to beat the crap out of it"

3 h
Visit to the "Baklusha Museum" and the "Jam Library". Participation in a master class on painting wooden products (spoons or whistling birds)

The village of Semibratovo, located on the Moscow-Arkhangelsk federal highway, is located between two ancient cities: seventeen kilometers separate it from Rostov, thirty–seven kilometers from Yaroslavl.

The name Semibratovo is borrowed from the ancient village of Makarovo, which stood nearby on the same highway, which in the past was called Makarovo-Semibraty. And the legends explain the sonorous "Seven Brothers" as follows: in ancient times, seven heroic brothers supposedly lived here. The toponym "Semibraty, Makarovo also" is found in documents of the early 17th century.

The history of the village of Semibratovo goes back to the distant times of the Slavonization of the Russian land and the formation of the Rostov Principality. The chronicles of the XVI and XV centuries mention a place where "seven brothers of the rabble" once lived on the Rostov land. Local history researchers are arguing whether it was on the site of the village of Makarovo or the village of Borodino, or was a "bogatyr outpost" on the site of the village of Isady, guarding the way to princely Rostov. But it is unanimously believed that the adventures of these seven brothers served as the basis for the fairy tale "About seven Siblings" and for numerous legends about the events of ancient Russian history and the "Rostov land".

The route is available for students in grades 2-6 and children with disabilities of various nosologies in mixed groups (accompanied by an assistant or tutor), in the absence of contraindications to moderate physical activity. The route promotes the education of patriotism based on socio-cultural, spiritual and moral values through the development of the natural and historical heritage of the region.

The exhibition allows you to immerse yourself in the world of Russian folk traditions and the spiritual atmosphere of a peasant hut. Arriving here, you will visit a peasant lozhkare master to learn the famous Russian craft — "beating the bucket".

In Russia, the expression "beating the bucket" often means "idleness." However, it is only in Semibratovo that you can check if you can do this. The Semibrat craftsmen, who had long been successful in the woodchip industry, treated baklusha with respect. It is with this unsightly maiden that the story of the spoon begins — the most necessary item on the Russian table. Even small children could chop and dry blocks with a hatchet, but, as you know, every business has its own secrets.

In the Courtyard of the museum, you will be able to get acquainted with the process of harvesting buckwheat and check how "trivial" this work was.

In the Spoon Workshop, you will witness the transformation of baklusha into a beautiful spoon by attending a master class by an experienced spoon maker.

In the museum Hut you will meet the main character of the Russian meal, a multi—faceted wooden spoon. What kind of spoons are not in the museum's collection! There are many amazing rituals and signs associated with each spoon. There are wedding, baptismal, and even huge spoons of Volga boatmen ... And at the master class you will be able to paint a spoon yourself, which will bring comfort and prosperity to your family.

While the male half of ancient Semibratovo was engaged in "beating baklush," the housewives collected recipes and brewed a popular delicacy in Russia – jam. Today, these recipes are stored in a unique Jam Library. By visiting it, you will not only learn a lot of interesting things about your favorite Russian delicacy, but you will also be able to appreciate the richness and variety of its flavors.

What kind of jams were not brewed in Russia!.. Made with honey, molasses or sugar, berries, fruits, nuts and even... vegetables! Each recipe has taken its rightful place on the shelves of the Jam Library and is eagerly awaiting the curious reader.

The delicious and informative volumes of the Library will tell you which sweets Ivan the Terrible preferred, from which the "bersenevoe" jam, beloved by Pushkin, was prepared. Flipping through the delicious pages, you will get acquainted with the amazing properties of jam, its "relatives" living in the national countries of the world.

Like in any library, there is a Reading room where, without fuss and haste, you can immerse yourself in studying ancient recipes and experience the real taste of Russian jam brewed according to folk recipes.
