What to see?

Traces of the early history of the Russian state have been preserved in Pereslavl to this day, including an earthen fortress dating back to the XII century and once defended the posad from the enemy. It is not just a tourist attraction, but also a great place to walk. The architectural complexes of six buildings have been preserved in the city!!! monasteries. On the outskirts of Pereslavl lies the Pleshcheyevo Lake National Park with unique historical monuments and the purest reservoir. And Pereslavl-Zalessky is also considered the birthplace of the Russian navy.

Pereslavl is the birthplace of St. Alexander Nevsky, one of the favorite places of Peter the Great, who founded his "funny" flotilla here. The oldest church in Central Russia, the Transfiguration Cathedral of the XII century, remembers the founder of Vladimir Rus, Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky.

Wherever you go in Pereslavl-Zalessky, there is something interesting waiting for you everywhere. Ancient temples with beautiful paintings, Alexandrov Mountain, ramparts over the unhurried Trubezh River, a pagan shrine – a Blue stone that, despite its weight of 12 tons, moves from place to place.

The ideal place for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts is Pleshcheyevo Lake, which, by the way, is one of the ten most mysterious places in Russia. Here, in the Pleshcheyevo Lake National Park, you can walk along the ecotropics, visit the gray heron, admire the exuberant flowering of flora in the arboretum. Take a ride on a trolley in the wonderful museum of steam locomotives, go to the Peter I Boat Museum and learn the history of Russian navigation. Be surprised by the number and variety of local museums – kettles, irons, sewing machines and many others. Get to know the Horse in the coat and visit Berendey!

By all means, try the royal ryapushka and find out the taste of happiness by going along one of the gastronomic routes – to a brewery or cheese factory, to a restaurant in the forest or to bakers.

And if you're lucky, you'll see an amazing ballooning festival, when dozens of balloons rise into the sky over Pereslavl.

what other cities to visit?

Each city is an amazing story:
«whatever a city, it's a city with a burrow». This proverb vividly reflects the authentic character of the «pearls» of Yaroslavia. And together they are like treasures in a box, which one wants to go through and admire endlessly. Nowhere in Russia is there such a constellation of closely juxtaposed protected and historical towns.
The main attraction of the Yaroslavl region is a constellation of 12 ancient cities: Yaroslavl, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Poshekhonye, Rostov the Great, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich and the flooded Mologa. Each of them has its own unique appearance and atmosphere.
