The gallery "Under the Holy Veil" is a unique spiritual work that combines paintings and graphics by the artist S. Simakov, now Abbot Raphael, and masterpieces of church decorative and applied art of the XV-XIX centuries. The guide will show S. Simakov's paintings created in different periods of his life, and will tell about his creative path "from the avant-garde to God." The artist has repeatedly said that with his work he solves not only artistic, but also educational tasks, trying to tell the language of the picture about the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, the exploits of its saints, the beauty of Orthodoxy. His paintings are detailed and narrative, like the hagiographic icons of the 17th century and the later "parsun icons".
The showcases contain items that were an integral part of solemn religious services and processions.: veils, veils and banners sewn with gold and silver threads, altar crosses and Gospels in luxurious frames, church vessels made of precious metals and much more. Duration – 1 academic hour.
