About the creator of the museum
John Grigorievich Mostoslavsky is a famous artist of the original genre, an illusionist, a man fanatically passionate about collecting antiques. John Mostoslavsky developed a passion for collecting as a child. At first, he collected bells, horseshoes, and coins for luck. Subsequently, his childhood hobby turned into a professional collector's activity. All concert royalties from each tour went to replenish the collection. Every thing became a part of John Mostoslavsky's soul, and the soul of an artist demands an audience. Therefore, he always wanted to show his collection to people and share his spiritual wealth. That's when the idea arose to create a museum where people could touch the beautiful and enjoy the sound of ancient musical instruments, hear the striking of ancient clocks and the ringing of bells. This is how the first private museum in the Russian Federation, Music and Time, appeared in 1993.
The museum presents a collection of ancient musical instruments and mechanisms (gramophones, gramophones, harmoniums, music boxes, hurdy-gurdy), clocks (wall, table, floor, fireplace, carriage), bells (bow bells, botals, ryndy, bells, church bells of the Tin factory), irons, gold-colored icons.
A special feature of the museum is that all the exhibits are in working order: you can hear the striking of antique clocks and the sounds of musical instruments. Visitors are given the opportunity to touch the exhibits and take free photos. To date, the museum complex "Music and Time" has three exhibitions: music and time, Russian and foreign decorative porcelain of the IXX-XX century, samovars and Kaslin casting, Old Believer plastic and gold-colored icons.
